Yunomi Toluca Lake represents the third iteration of this esteemed restaurant chain, distinguished by a sophisticated blend of modernity and tradition in its architectural design. Our objective was to craft an environment that seamlessly integrates contemporary aesthetics with timeless Japanese elements, including clay tiles, raw wood, and motifs inspired by rice fields.

Drawing from the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, which celebrates the beauty of simplicity and imperfection, our design aims to blur the temporal boundaries between the past and present. The raw, natural materials employed throughout the space are chosen for their intrinsic complexity and depth, creating a minimalist yet profound ambiance.

In our approach to the interior, we focused on enhancing the synergy between materials, employing strategic lighting to cultivate a subtly enigmatic atmosphere. This deliberate illumination underscores the minimalist ethos, allowing the space to evoke a sense of quiet contemplation.

For the facade, we opted for a minimalist approach, honoring the essence of traditional Japanese architecture by stripping away extraneous ornamentation. This strategy preserved the minimalist integrity of the design while introducing nuanced layers of complexity through the use of wooden beams, cobblestone flooring, and ceramic roofing tiles. The result is a harmonious convergence of simplicity and depth, reflecting both the timeless elegance of Japanese design and a contemporary sensibility.
