When initially approached, the client asked for a space that would be unique and different from other traditional Indian restaurants, a space that felt chic − contemporary but still grounded in the culture. By applying these design elements in a distinct manner, the created space is welcoming, vibrant, and sophisticated, appealing to the young tech community of Silicon Valley.
The rise of smaller, almost boutique restaurants has risen in the past years. Restaurants with a more intimate feeling and with more attention to the quality of materials and lighting which in turn, prop up the cuisine. We take advantage of the small space to create a unique environment and culinary experience.
Our design approach is based on India's diverse historical elements that have shaped its architectural landscape. The selected materials and finishes blend the traditional with the contemporary to create a unique space.
Inspired by traditional hand-carved designs, the repurposed wall finishes of the panels add an elegant decorative layer to the minimalist environment. The lighting fixtures, reflecting Western influences in India, not only illuminate the space but also serve as effective buffers for the high ceiling. Meanwhile, the booth partition cleverly divides the open area into more intimate sections while incorporating refreshing flora, enhancing the overall ambiance.
